Fire risk assessments: A vital safety measure for all buildings

You can be rest assured that your Fire Risk Assessment has been completed by one of our qualified assessors.

The Fire Safety Order (FSO) applies to all non-domestic premises in England and Wales, and applies to common parts of blocks of flats and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). Under the FSO, employers (and/or building owners or occupiers) must carry out a fire safety assessment and implement and maintain fire management compliance.

To maximize fire prevention and minimize the risk of injury or loss of life, employers must implement adequate fire safety measures based on the completed assessment. The assessment should identify potential fire causes, sources of ignition, combustible substances, and people at risk in the workplace.

This is where PTS Compliance can assist you

We undertake Fire Risk Assessments on a daily basis and are fully qualified and insured to do so, taking the headache away from you.

Following the onsite assessment your report will be available 1 to 2 working days later. In urgent cases we can offer a next day service. We will talk you through our findings within the report and help you understand exactly what needs attention. With our risk analysis we can consider whether you can avoid them altogether or, if this is not possible, how you can reduce the risks to a minimal and manage them.

Included as part of our assessments we will investigate the following:

  • Carrying out a fire safety risk assessment and provide an action plan
  • ignition sources, fire hazards, flammable substances and combustible materials
  • Avoidance of accidental fires from arson, cooking and electrical equipment
  • Good housekeeping at all times (i.e. build-up of rubbish that could burn)
  • Considering how to detect fires and how to warn people quickly if they start (i.e. installing smoke alarms emergency lighting or fire alarm system)
  • Having the correct fire extinguishers for putting a fire out quickly
  • Ensuring fire exits and escape routes are clearly marked and unobstructed at all times
  • Ensuring your workers receive appropriate training on procedures they need to follow, including fire drills
  • Review and update your risk assessment regularly
Fire Risk Assessments can take place within 5 working days of you contacting us, or as early as the next day if urgent.
